An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly experienced Environmental Consultant to join our internationally recognised Environmental Approvals, Closure and Management team based in Perth.

The team provides a wide range of project management, due diligence, environmental impact assessment and approvals under the EP Act, EPBC Act, BC Act and Mining Act. The EAM&C team works closely with other specialist teams in SLR to deliver a complete environmental service to clients across a range of sectors. This position will be responsible for supporting the Perth EAM&C Team Lead to drive the business in Western Australia. We also work closely with the Darwin-based team, so the role will provide opportunity to work in both jurisdictions.

Articulate, motivated and reliable, you will have a minimum of 10 years' experience in consulting, government or industry. You will enjoy undertaking project work whilst mentoring team member and developing client relationships throughout the region. You will also collaborate on projects and initiatives with the national EAC&M group and other teams within our multi-disciplinary business. The successful applicant will be pivotal to the continued development of the team and will assist in the growth of the discipline nationally.

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Providing advice regarding best practice environmental and management principles to clients and internal SLR team member
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of team business plans and strategies
  • Developing, facilitating and enhancing effective relationships with our clients and internal SLR team members
  • Leading the development of environmental impact assessments, management plans and supporting our clients through their compliance and closure journey
  • Working within and leading multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects across a range of sectors
  • Delivering clear and precise, high-quality reports
  • Occasional travel to site may be required.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in the mining, infrastructure and renewables sectors is essential
  • A degree in Environmental Science, Engineering or a related field
  • Ability to win work through business development and demonstrated client management expertise
  • Demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary projects
  • Demonstrated experience delivering WA and Commonwealth approvals, including an excellent and contemporary knowledge of environmental legislation and policies, standards and guidelines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Full working rights in Australia
  • A valid WA Driver’s Licence
  • The following would be highly valued, but are not pre-requisites:
    • Experience working under Northern Territory legislation
    • Experience in the land development and/or agribusiness sectors
