About the Role

We are looking for a skilled Automation Test Engineer with strong hands-on experience in Playwright for both web application and API testing. You will work closely with developers, clients, and product stakeholders to understand requirements, write comprehensive test cases, and build robust automated test suites to ensure high-quality, reliable releases.

Key Responsibilities

Requirement Analysis & Test Design

• Work closely with developers, clients, and business analysts to understand functional and technical requirements.
• Analyze user stories, specifications, and acceptance criteria to write clear, detailed test cases and test scenarios.
• Participate in requirement discussions, sprint planning, and design reviews to identify testable scenarios and edge cases early.
• Prepare test plans covering functional, regression, integration, and API test coverage.

Automation Development

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts for web applications and REST/SOAP APIs using Playwright (JavaScript/TypeScript or Python).
• Build and maintain scalable automation frameworks (Page Object Model, data-driven and keyword-driven approaches) for UI testing.
• Develop API automation suites using Playwright's API testing capabilities (request/response validation, schema validation, status codes, auth flows, etc.).
• Validate data consistency between UI, API, and backend/database layers where applicable.

Execution & CI/CD – Good to have

• Integrate automated web and API test suites into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, etc.).
• Perform cross-browser and cross-platform testing (Chromium, Firefox, WebKit).
• Execute API tests for functional correctness, negative scenarios, and contract validation.

Quality & Collaboration

• Debug test failures, perform root cause analysis, and log defects with clear reproducible steps.
• Collaborate with developers to clarify requirements, discuss API contracts/specs (Swagger/OpenAPI), and resolve defects quickly.
• Communicate directly with clients on requirement clarifications, test coverage sign-off, and status updates.
• Report quality metrics, test execution results, and coverage gaps to stakeholders.
• Continuously improve test stability, reduce flaky tests, and optimize execution time.
• Mentor junior QA engineers on automation and API testing best practices where applicable.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 2+ years of hands-on experience in test automation, with strong expertise in Playwright for both UI and API testing.
• Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript (Python experience is a plus) etc.
• Solid understanding of software testing methodologies (functional, regression, smoke, integration, API, and system testing).
• Strong experience in API testing — REST/SOAP, request/response validation, status codes, headers, authentication (OAuth, JWT, API keys), and schema validation.
• Working knowledge of API documentation tools (Swagger/OpenAPI, Postman collections).
• Proven ability to write clear test cases and test scenarios directly from requirements/user stories.
• Strong experience collaborating directly with developers and clients to clarify requirements and resolve issues.
• Familiarity with version control systems, especially Git.
• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong understanding of HTML, CSS, and DOM structure for effective element locators.
• Knowledge of test reporting tools (Allure, Playwright HTML Reporter, etc.).
• Excellent analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.

Good to Have

• Experience with Postman/Newman, REST Assured, or similar API testing tools.
• Experience with other automation tools (Selenium, Cypress) for comparison/migration projects.
• Knowledge of Docker and containerized test execution.
• Experience with performance testing tools (k6, JMeter).
• Basic SQL knowledge for backend/database validation.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and direct client-facing QA roles.
• Exposure to visual regression and accessibility testing.

Soft Skills

• Strong verbal and written communication for direct client and developer interaction.
• Ability to translate business requirements into clear, testable cases.
• Attention to detail and a quality-first mindset.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of end-to-end test coverage (UI + API).
• Comfortable working in fast-paced, iterative, client-facing environments.

Pay: Up to ₹40,000.00 per month
