Bar Manager – The Lakeside Hotel, Ballina/Killaloe

Salary: €45,000 | Full‑Time | Flexible Shifts

The Lakeside Hotel & Leisure Centre is a renowned 4‑star property overlooking the River Shannon and the twin towns of Ballina and Killaloe, offering a warm, welcoming atmosphere and exceptional guest service. We have O Hara's Bar which is the hub of the hotel for residenst and locals alike. We also have a large function room Bar where we have a large number of weddings and events throughout the year.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Bar Manager to lead operations in our busy, food‑focused bar. Allied to this, we have a very busy function bar. This is a hands‑on leadership role within our hotel management team, suited to someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and upholds high standards of service, efficiency, and team motivation.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily bar operations in a high‑volume, food‑led environment.
• Lead, train, and motivate bar staff to deliver warm, professional service consistent with our reputation.
• Maintain high standards of food and beverage quality, ensuring consistency aligned with guest expectations of excellent dining.
• Manage stock control, ordering, waste reduction, and supplier relationships.
• Collaborate with the wider management team to support hotel‑wide service excellence.
• Ensure compliance with licensing laws, health & safety standards, and HACCP requirements.
• Contribute to menu development, promotions, and guest experience initiatives.

Ideal Candidate

• Previous management experience in a busy, food‑focused bar is essential.
• Hotel bars experience is highly desirable, given our strong service and hospitality culture and high number of wedding and events.
• Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to inspire a positive team environment.
• Passionate about customer experience, with an eye for detail and a proactive approach to service.
• Strong organisational and financial awareness.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and a rotating schedule as part of the hotel management team.
