Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behavioral Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with children and individuals with disabilities, providing essential support and guidance in their behavioral health journey. Your expertise will be instrumental in developing effective behavioral therapy plans, conducting diagnostic evaluations, and ensuring compliance with medical documentation standards.
Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments and diagnostic evaluations to identify behavioral health needs.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to the specific needs of each child or individual.
- Provide direct behavioral therapy and support to clients, utilizing evidence-based practices.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with parents, educators, and other professionals to create a supportive environment for clients.
- Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on best practices for working with individuals with disabilities.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with advancements in behavioral health.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, special education, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Experience working with children or individuals with disabilities is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of behavioral health principles and therapeutic techniques.
- Familiarity with medical documentation practices and maintaining confidentiality per HIPAA standards.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with clients and their families.
- Ability to demonstrate patience, empathy, and understanding in challenging situations.
- Previous experience in special education or patient care is a plus.
