Now Hiring: Breakfast Cook
Full-Time · Two Positions Available

Istar Restaurant is a Somali, halal restaurant that has been a staple in the community for over 27 years. Operating around the clock at 235 Dixon Road in Toronto, we serve breakfast day and night — a menu that bridges North American continental breakfast with Middle Eastern and East African favourites. We are hiring two full-time Breakfast Cooks: one for our daytime service and one for our overnight breakfast service.

Shifts Available

• Morning shift: 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM (daytime breakfast service)
• Overnight shift: 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM (overnight breakfast service)

What You'll Do

• Cook a full breakfast menu to a consistent standard, whether on the morning or overnight shift
• Prepare North American continental breakfast items
• Produce East African and Middle Eastern breakfast staples including anjera, malawah (Somali crepes), sabayad, and related items
• Work at speed and volume without compromising quality or consistency
• Maintain station organization, food safety, and prep standards throughout your shift

What You Need

• Minimum 5 years of professional cooking experience — must be verifiable
• Proven experience in a large-volume production restaurant
• Hands-on knowledge of North American continental breakfast
• Working knowledge of Middle Eastern and East African cuisine, including anjera, malawah, and similar preparations
• Reliability, stamina, and the ability to work independently during overnight hours
