About Nifty Hoops:

Nifty Hoops (niftyhoops.com) is the Great Lakes' premier high tunnel manufacturer and builder. We fabricate hoophouses at our facility and install them at farms throughout the region. High tunnels are passive solar greenhouses that farmers use to protect sensitive crops, and to extend their growing season through the winter.

Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated hoophouse Builder to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction and an interest in local agriculture, be willing to travel two out of every three weeks, be able to operate a truck and trailer proficiently, and be able to work well with groups of volunteers

Duties:

• Lead high tunnel installations, often with just one other professional builder, utilizing assistance from farmers and their crews to complete projects in one day.
• Perform heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks as required on job sites.
• Tilt high tunnel structure layout to grade of site, using laser transit and gas-powered post-driver.
• Uphold highest quality and customer service standards.
• Utilize power tools effectively and safely for various construction tasks.

Skills

• Proficiency with construction tools.
• Strong capability in heavy lifting and physical endurance.
• Knowledge of vegetable farming practices is a plus
• Proficiency with truck and trailer, including backing up long distances

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.00 - $32.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week

• construction: 2 years (Preferred)
