Title: Business Development Officer
Reports to: Director, Membership and Business Development
Location: Greater Kingston Chamber of Commerce, 204-299 Concession Street, Kingston ON, K7K 2B9
Position summary:
For more than 185 years GKCC has provided value to its members through active advocacy, connecting leaders and creating opportunities. The Chamber is the voice of business in Kingston and advocates at the local, provincial and federal levels on behalf of 650 companies representing 18,000 employees.
The Business Development Officer will report to the Director, Membership and Business Development they will coordinate an effective plan to grow and retain membership and develop other revenue generating opportunities. This position is responsible for all aspects of membership including recruitment, building, and maintaining relationships with existing members to support retention, and administrative upkeep of membership details in the CRM system. Other responsibilities include collaborating with the team on marketing efforts to promote the Chamber and responsibilities include collaborating with the team on marketing efforts to promote the Chamber and membership incentives, administrative work within the office and participation in events.
Key Accountabilities
- Work with the Director, Membership and Business Development to create and develop membership recruitment and retention strategies, actively following the strategy to recruit new members
- Assist in the creation and packaging of new member information and welcome packets
- Attend external events to promote the chamber in the community, develop business leads and
strengthening stakeholder relationships
- Manage all inbound membership inquiries from prospective and existing members
- Develop and foster ongoing relationships with Chamber members through member engagement
- Assist with outreach to prospective members, including phone calls, emails and in person visits to share Chamber benefits and services
- Support member retention by conducting check-in calls and gathering feedback
- Understand the current revenue streams and identify and support additional revenue generation through sponsorships, advertising, and hosting
- Identify opportunities for utilizing members venues for events and partnership opportunities
- Support the market research, develop viable business strategies and oversee execution of the plan
- Input all communication, new members on boarding information and changes in membership
contact data into the CRM ensuring accuracy; optimize CRM capability for business data analysis
- Represent the Kingston Chamber at events, meetings, and committees, as required
- Assist in creating, updating, and distributing marketing materials
- Attend and assist staff at chamber events including set-up, registration, and tear down; this may require working an occasional evening, weekend, or holiday
- Attend staff meetings and training courses, as required
- Assist with the Chamber’s social media and email campaigns, as directed
