Role Overview

Reporting to the Irish Life Group Chief People Officer, the Business Support Lead will play a pivotal role in supporting the Chief People Officer (CPO) by ensuring the smooth operation of HR functions and strategic initiatives. This role will be key in driving efficiency of time, information and decision making to support the delivery of key initiatives across the HR team. The role involves stakeholder mapping, rhythm of the business planning and implementation for HR Leadership Team (HRLT) and HR team, and various other areas of support to align with the company's HR strategy and compliance obligations.

Business demands to the CPO, HRLT and HR team are changing and there is a requirement for proactive and dynamic support role for a wide range of strategic and operational projects and initiatives within the Office of the CPO.

What you will help us to achieve

  • Stakeholder Mapping:
o Is the key gatekeeper for the ILG (Irish Life Group) CPO applying judgement to ensure the CPOs time is effectively managed and planned
o Responsible for scheduling CPO meetings and stakeholder interactions, including SLTs, Heads of People & Culture, Finance, and Legal teams.
o Develops, implements and manages a stakeholder map to prioritise CPO time.
o Responsible for meeting preparation for CPO to include meeting briefings and where relevant, the provision of information packs, presentation decks or talking points.
o Responsible for appropriate minute-taking, monitoring, tracking and advancement of meeting actions and follow-up; may lead on certain actions as appropriate.

  • Rhythm of the Business (ROB) Planning and Implementation:

o Leads the development and implementation of a new Rhythm of Business (ROB) for HRLT & HR that aligns with HR strategic Priorities.
o Plans the HR ROB taking into consideration the Employee value proposition, Talent and Reward cycle and Board timelines.
o Continuously reviews and Identifies opportunities for improvement and implements necessary changes to:
  • Optimise processes.
  • Reduce costs.
  • Improve efficiency.
  • Maximise use of time for CPO/HRLT
  • Increase meeting effectiveness.

  • HR Strategy and Compliance:

o Stays up to date with market Trends, competitor activity and industry developments to inform their input to HRLT agenda and HR Strategy.
o Is fully knowledgeable of the company and HR strategy and compliance obligations, with the view of aligning and meeting HR project timelines, budgets, and vendor contracts.
o Assists HRLT members with their workforce planning, skills gap analysis, and high-impact projects aligned with business goals.
o Drives adherence to governance standards in all HR activities.
o Ensures availability of current agenda and reporting templates.

  • Dashboards and Reporting:

o Responsible for data gathering and analysis for the CPO and HRLT as required to inform key decision making.
o Co-ordinating and submitting information for the CPO and HRLT for Board Governance requirements and Board presentations including follow up activities and actions.
o Review and maintains dashboards or trackers for key HR initiatives or OKRs.
o Ensure availability of current agenda, central repository items and reporting templates.
o Manage and reports on the CPO Cost centre Budget, invoice processing and ensure accurate financial reporting.

  • Engagement and Culture:

o Reviews and drives actions identified for the wider HR team from the engagement surveys or pulse checks.
o Assists Internal Communications team in the implementation of recognition programs or culture-building campaigns.
o Is responsible for the smooth running of the HR Team working environment and office requirements.
o Is responsible for onboarding of Senior HR Roles and supporting CPO and HRLT with induction of their new direct reports.

What you will need to be successful in the role

  • Proven experience as Business Manager or similar role
  • Strong strategic planning and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent commercial and financial acumen and budgeting experience
  • Leadership and team management experience
  • Strong communication and stake holder skills
  • Ideally a professional certification in Business Studies
  • Experience in the Financial services industry and/or HR related roles
  • Strong knowledge of the organisation structure as a whole Irish Life /Canada life
  • Knows the employee value proposition and key employee life cycle events
  • A strong understanding or compliance/risk and project management frameworks and agile methodology
  • Strong experience of working with AI Tools
  • Possesses excellent communication and presentation skills both verbally and in writing and to ability to lead professionals across various disciplines.
