The Buyer manages all aspects of procurement, planning, and supplier relationship management. Identifies cost saving opportunities, risk within the supply chain, and understands supplier capacity and effect on supply and planning.
Key Functions & Duties:
- Establish and manage day-to-day communications with suppliers in order to assure the optimum level of inventory is in place at the company's manufacturing facilities and supplier/subcontractors.
- Conduct material requirements planning and ensure delivery schedule in accordance with MRP data.
- Issue forecasts to suppliers as required.
- Ability to identify supply chain risks with the complete knowledge of addressing them without jeopardizing the operations.
- Create, issue and maintain purchase orders. Manages communications with suppliers regarding delivery changes, logistics, quality, expediting, and rework. while optimizing logistics costs and inventory levels. Optimizes logistics costs and inventory levels.
- Escalates and manages issues related to supplier performance on a case-by-case basis and in accordance with established metrics and supply agreements.
- Work with suppliers to get corrective actions on non-conforming parts.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and ensures the integrity of planning and part data in ERP system.
- Has extensive knowledge to interpret Bill of Materials (BOM) and understand Engineering drawings.
- Logistics is an asset
- Carry out other duties as required.

- Understand responsibilities related to Provincial standard
Environmental
- Work to achieve environmental objectives
- Understand how your tasks/activities impact the environment
- Report Environmental concerns
Qualifications and Skills
- SCMP, PMAC, or APICS certification is a plus.
- At least five (5) years’ experience as Buyer in manufacturing environment using an ERP system.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). Knowledge in Syspro and ERP MRP systems is an advantage.
- Excellent negotiation skills, critical thinking skills and good judgment.
- Ability to work well with cross-functional teams and diverse groups of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills for a cooperative working relationships both internally and externally.
- Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills.
- High level of initiative and detail oriented.
- Good time management, with ability to organize, prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Onsite - 5 days a week in Brockville, ON
