Cabinet Maker - Team Lead

About the Role

Boxmakers is seeking an experienced Workshop Team Lead to join our dynamic carpentry and cabinet-making team in our Rosedale, Auckland workshop. In this role, you will take a hands-on approach to oversee day-to-day operations of our production workshop, working directly with machines, tools, and production equipment. You will also play a key role in site installations, ensuring our custom furniture and joinery solutions are delivered to the highest standard.

What You'll Be Doing

• Lead and motivate a small team of carpenters and cabinet makers to deliver high-quality custom furniture and joinery.
• Oversee and actively participate in workshop processes, including operating machinery, using tools, production scheduling, and quality control.
• Conduct site installations, ensuring precision, efficiency, and adherence to customer specifications.
• Provide hands-on guidance and training to workshop staff, demonstrating best practices with machines and tools to improve their skills and productivity.
• Collaborate with the design team to ensure projects are completed to exact specifications and customer requirements.
• Maintain a safe and organised workshop environment, adhering to all health and safety protocols.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in workshop operations, production processes, and site installations.

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience as a team leader or supervisor in a workshop or manufacturing environment.
• Strong technical expertise in operating workshop machinery and tools, along with advanced carpentry and cabinet-making skills.
• Experience in managing and executing on-site installations.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
• Familiarity with workshop equipment, tools, and safety procedures.
• A keen eye for detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality craftsmanship.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to $32.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 48 per week
