Ao Sushi has been a part of the Wilmette Community for over 20 years. We are looking for a Cashier to manage all transactions with customers accurately and efficiently.

Our cashiers participate in our tip pool.

Cashier responsibilities include receiving payments and issuing receipts, bagging purchases and keeping track of all cash and credit transactions. To be successful in this role, you should have previous experience in a customer service position. You should be available to take evening and weekend shifts occasionally. Ultimately, you’ll ensure all transactions run smoothly and will help us maximize customer satisfaction. We deal primarily with sushi so a familiarity with sushi will help you succeed as our cashier.

New Hire Bonuses

Full time: up to $1000

Part time: up to $500

Responsibilities

• Manage transactions with customers using cash registers
• Scan goods and ensure pricing is accurate
• Collect payments whether in cash or credit
• Issue receipts, refunds, or change
• Redeem gift cards
• Help customers understand our menu and place orders
• Resolve customer complaints, guide them and provide relevant information
• Greet customers when entering or leaving the store
• Maintain clean and tidy checkout areas
• Handle merchandise returns and exchanges

Skills

• Work experience as a retail cashier or in a similar role in sales preferred
• Basic PC knowledge
• Familiarity with electronic equipment, like cash register and POS
• Good math skills
• Strong communication and time management skills
• Customer satisfaction-oriented

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 29 per week
