Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will support dental practitioners in providing exceptional patient care, ensuring efficient clinic operations, and maintaining the highest standards of infection control and patient safety. This role offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, utilizing advanced dental technology and fostering a compassionate approach to patient service. Experience with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, and Epic is preferred, along with knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical documentation. The Dental Assistant will play a vital role in supporting various dental procedures, including pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and general dentistry.
Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and supplies, ensuring aseptic technique and infection control standards are met
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans when applicable, while maintaining patient safety and comfort
- Record vital signs and medical history information accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic
- Provide chairside assistance by handing instruments, suctioning, and managing dental materials during procedures
- Educate patients on oral health care practices and post-treatment instructions using proper dental terminology
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Manage appointment scheduling and patient flow as a dental receptionist when needed
- Assist with medical imaging procedures and ensure proper sterilization of equipment
- Support pediatric dentistry cases by creating a welcoming environment for young patients
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic setting; experience with dental assisting is required
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic is highly desirable
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques
- Familiarity with dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, medical coding, and medical documentation standards
- Ability to operate X-ray machines and perform radiographic procedures safely; experience with 3D scanners is a plus
- Strong understanding of general dentistry procedures including prosthodontics and endodontics
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages, including pediatrics
- Certification in CPR or BLS preferred; additional certifications related to pediatric dentistry or medical imaging are advantageous
