POSITION TITLE: Certified Medical Assistant/ Office Admin

RESPONSIBLE TO: Office Manager

STATUS: Part-time 20 hours

COMPENSATION: 20 -25/hr. DOE

Overview

PROVOKE Health — a functional medicine and integrative healthcare practice that collaborates with patients to rekindle their confidence and improve their resiliency through the creation and co-management of personalized treatment plans — is seeking a dedicated and organized part-time Certified Medical Assistant/ Office Admin for its Lutz, Florida, clinic location.

Serving in a dual clinical and administrative capacity, the part-time Certified Medical Assistant is a key hire for the practice, with responsibilities in both patient support and front office. If you’re a Certified Medical Assistant with at least five (5) years of clinical experience, and you’re interested in joining a healthcare practice that offers opportunities for professional growth and career advancement, then this might be the ideal position for you.

Required Knowledge and Experience

Successful candidates must be certified as a medical assistant (CMA), have at least five (5) years of medical office experience, and have strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as an understanding of the importance of exceptional patient care and service. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a clinic environment with little to no supervision, is accustomed to following protocol, is entrepreneurial yet considers themselves to be a team player and is extremely comfortable with a dynamic mix of clinical duties and administrative responsibilities.

Major Job Responsibilities

Clinical duties include:

  • Prepare exam rooms and ensure equipment is sterilized and ready for use.
  • Collect and record patient vital signs, medical histories, and other relevant information.
  • Assist healthcare providers with patient exams, procedures, and treatments.
  • Administer injections, draw blood, and perform basic laboratory tests.
  • Educate patients on post-care instructions, medications, and general health practices.

Office Management

· Schedule patient appointments, manage calendars, and handle rescheduling or cancellations.

· Assistant with the verification of patient insurance information, including working with other staff to manage pre-care authorizations.

· Greet patients warmly and professionally upon arrival at the clinic.

· Process payments, manage billing inquiries, and maintain accurate financial records.

· Answer phone calls and respond to email messages promptly.

· Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the clinic’s reception and waiting areas.

Specific Qualifications and Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) designation.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • At least five (5) years of experience in a medical office or healthcare setting.
  • Strong multitasking, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated success with multitasking and working as an integral part of a high-functioning team responsible for the care of others.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in basic computer operation, including but not limited to navigating the Internet, working in Microsoft Word & Excel, and corresponding via email and text.
  • Basic math skills to manage cash, change, checks, and credit card transactions.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) regulations.
  • Interest in/passion for living a healthy lifestyle.
  • Must be willing to take — and be able to pass — a criminal background test.
  • Fluency in additional languages — including ‘medical terminology’ and Spanish — is a plus but not required.
