Job Description
The Opportunity:
We're seeking a highly experienced, dynamic, and results-oriented Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our executive leadership team. This is a pivotal role that will have end-to-end responsibility for the company’s day-to-day operational performance and execution against strategic objectives. In partnership with the CEO, this role will lead our company transformation efforts. The COO will drive alignment across departments, optimize key internal and external functions, and serve as a key driver of growth, scale, and value creation. As the operational right-hand to the CEO, you will translate high-level strategy into actionable plans and outcomes, ensuring efficient and effective execution across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership & Strategy Execution:
Translate the CEO's vision and high-level strategic objectives into clear, actionable operational plans and measurable outcomes.
Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance overall performance and consistency.
Monitor operational performance against key metrics and targets, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve operational excellence, streamline workflows, and enhance customer satisfaction.
Company Transformation Leadership:
In close partnership with the CEO, spearhead and manage major company-wide transformation initiatives.
Identify critical areas for operational and organizational change, developing comprehensive plans to achieve desired outcomes.
Drive adoption of new processes, technologies, and organizational structures to support the company's strategic evolution.
Communicate transformation progress, challenges, and successes to all stakeholders, ensuring alignment and buy-in.
Team Leadership & Management:
Directly lead and mentor critical operational functions, including:
Customer Success: Oversee strategies to maximize customer satisfaction, retention, and lifetime value, including driving the strategy for service delivery models tailored for a SaaS technology company.
Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A): Lead the operational integration of acquired companies, ensuring seamless transitions and value realization.
Support: Enhance customer support operations, driving efficiency and responsiveness to deliver exceptional service.
Information Technology (IT): Lead the company's internal IT functions, ensuring robust and secure technology systems to support business operations.
Value Creation Programs: Develop and execute initiatives aimed at driving significant business value and growth.
Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence within direct reports and across the organization.
Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing operational talent.
Cross-Functional Alignment & Collaboration:
Drive strong alignment and collaboration across all departments (e.g., product, engineering, sales, marketing, finance, HR) to ensure cohesive execution of company goals.
Act as a central point of coordination for major initiatives, ensuring resources are optimized and interdependencies are managed effectively.
Communicate operational performance, challenges, and opportunities effectively to the CEO and other executive stakeholders.
Growth, Scale & Value Creation:
Identify and implement opportunities for operational improvements that support rapid company growth and scalability.
Proactively anticipate operational challenges associated with growth and develop proactive solutions.
Contribute significantly to identifying and realizing new revenue streams and cost efficiencies.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree requiredGraduate Program (MBA, MIB or Masters): MBA or related advanced degree a plus.
15+ years of progressive leadership experience in operations, with at least 7 years in a senior executive role (e.g., VP of Operations, Head of Operations, or COO) within a SaaS technology company or similar fast-growing tech environment.
Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing effective service delivery models for SaaS products.
Proven experience in driving customer success strategies that enhance customer lifetime value and reduce churn in a recurring revenue business.
Proven ability to lead and optimize internal IT functions, ensuring robust and secure technology landscapes.
Demonstrated experience in leading successful company-wide transformation initiatives.
Proven track record of successfully scaling operations in a high-growth environment.
Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a strong bias for action and results.
Strong financial acumen and experience managing large operational budgets.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and evolving environment.
Experience working closely with a CEO and Board of Directors.
