Clinical Nurse Specialist - Intensive Care Unit

About the Role

We are looking for a Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our team and provide clinical expertise and support to our large and diverse nursing staff.

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will be part of the Senior Nursing Team. You will be expected to identify and support practice improvements and the implementation of best practice to ensure the highest of safe and competent practice is delivered in our Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Whilst proactively anticipating the complex needs of patients within the specialty using expert nursing knowledge, critical reasoning, diagnostic enquiry to independently assess, and undertake advanced clinical interventions and coordinate care.

Shifts are 8 or 10 hours, Monday to Friday. Shifts will be discussed at interview stage

About the Service

Our Intensive Care Unit is a tertiary level 3 ICU covering cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgery, trauma, paediatric and all general specialty patients requiring intensive care.

About you

As an advanced, specialised practitioner you will thrive in an environment where collaboration and teamwork are highly valued. You will work with a diverse group of teams to provide advanced clinical care and nursing expertise to the patients and their whanau/ families.

By utilizing your advanced knowledge and clinical skills in collaboration with nursing and medical staff, the multidisciplinary team and other external agencies you will contribute to the development and maintenance of high quality evidenced based practice.

  • Current experience working in a New Zealand Intensive Care environment
  • Hold a Graduate Certificate or higher relevant to Intensive Care Nursing and willingness to engage in ongoing Post Grad education.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively with other professionals
  • Initiative, solution focused with excellent time management skills and the ability to effectively and efficiently complete tasks
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the proven ability to engage people at all levels
  • Ability to share and demonstrate specialist knowledge and skills
  • Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC)
