Job Title: Community Co-Ordinator
Report to: the Local Leader
Responsible for: Co- ordination to assist the local leader in the overall management of the St Marys Convent home .
Location: St. Mary’s Convent, Watermill Road, Raheny, Dublin 5 D05 AY66
Hours of Work: 30 Flexi .
Main Purpose of the Post: To support the Sisters in all aspects of their living, , maintaining their independence as long as possible: so that they can enjoy the best quality of life in a safe, friendly and team environment.
Main Duties Include:
v Assess the health of the Sisters and help with their needs.
v Communicate with the local Health Care Agencies.
v Accompany the Sisters to appointments etc.as requested and needed.
v Arrange transport if required.
v Supervise the dietary needs of the Sisters with the Catering personnel.
v Ensure the Convent is maintained in a safe and hygienic condition..
v Together with the Local Leader be responsible for the Supervision and Appraisal of all staff members.
v Be responsible that Fire drill is carried out regularly.
v Be prepared to undertake appropriate training in your position as Coordinator
v Organise training for staff members in collaboration with the Local Leader and the HR.
v Consult with and report to the local Leader on a regular basis.
v Liaise with the Maintenance Personnel regarding the maintenance of the Property.
v Ensure that all equipment, mechanical and electrical, is in safe working order.
v Enter all unsafe and damaged items/ equipment in the Maintenance Book and report to the appropriate authority a.s.a.p.
v Take all possible steps to safeguard the dignity, privacy and individuality of each sister and see to their welfare and safety.
v Maintain confidentiality regarding all aspects and affairs of the community and the sisters.
v Be willing to undertake any other related tasks or duties which may arise from time to time.
This job is not an exhaustive list of duties and should only be used as a general guide. The duties and responsibilities of the role may change or develop over time. The Local Leader, in consultation with you, will propose appropriate changes as necessary.
Person Specification
Ø Have Experience in supervision of staff.
Ø Have a background/ experience in Caring of frail, elderly people with a range of Health needs. Ideally trained as a Healthcare Assistant
Ø Have good communication and computer skills.
Ø Respect confidentiality, and have an empathetic and respectful attitude towards sisters and staff members.
Ø Have the ability to respond to crisis/ emergencies in a calm and caring manner.
Ø Be willing to respond at short notice, to the more urgent needs as they may arise.
Ø Be capable of making decisions.
Ø Have the ability to deal with and resolve conflict, where possible, in a calm and just manner.
Ø Have empathy with the values of those living in a Religious community.
Ø Have a full, clean driving licence.
Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: From €20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 per week
