Roster: Monday to Friday
Location: Port Hedland, WA
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time

About the role
Category 5 is a prominent employer in the Port Hedland and Pilbara region. Therefore, it is very important that we give back to the community that has given Category 5 so much. This position will support the development and delivery of meaningful and effective community engagement initiatives and traineeships. Responsibilities include contributing to planning, implementing activities, and ensuring community needs are met through inclusive and responsive engagement.

Duties & responsibilities (not limited to)

  • Recruit, Screen and assist to have job reach School Based Trainees
  • Coordinate with Training organisations on initiatives and delivery
  • Develop and implement community engagement strategies to enhance relationships with stakeholders, including residents, local organisations, schools and community groups.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for community inquiries, ensuring timely and effective responses.
  • Foster partnerships with key community leaders, non-profits, and businesses to support mutual goals.
  • Represent Cat5 at community events, public events and other forums
  • Design community programs and initiatives that align with the organisations objectives.
  • Coordinate events, workshops, and activities to engage stakeholders and promote the Cat5’s mission
  • Develop and deliver communication materials, including newsletters, press releases and social media content to engage the community effectively.
  • Create and maintain a calendar of community events and activities
  • Collaborate with recruitment, administration and other teams to ensure consistent messaging and branding.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on community engagement activities for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead and support school-based trainees and workplace volunteers involved in community engagement activities.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to align community engagement efforts with broader corporate goals.
  • Facilitate performance reviews and probationary performance reviews and check-ins
  • At all times foster a positive and collaborative work environment, with a continuous improvement mindset

Skills & experience

  • Port Hedland resident (local role – not FIFO)
  • Qualifications or relevant experience in community service or related areas
  • Experience coordinating small projects, forums or workshop events
  • Confident, professional communicator with a positive, can-do attitude
  • Ability to create and maintain Stakeholder relationships
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
