Position Summary

ABA of WI is currently hiring fun-loving, compassionate, hard working individuals to work as Community Support Trainers providing services for youth and adolescents with autism and other related disorders. Community Support Trainers assist clients by facilitating social interactions and supporting them with participation in group activities. They may assist the Program Coordinator with planning and leading group activities. Community Support Trainers may work with individual clients in a 1:1 staffing ratio or with small groups. This is an ideal position for college students pursuing degrees in Special Education, Occupational Therapy, Speech & Language, Psychology, and other related fields who are looking for applied experience. We are looking to fill late afternoon/early evening hours: Monday-Thursday 12p-6p, Friday 12p-5p.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on guidance and support for children and adolescents with special needs.
  • Assist the Community Supports Program Coordinator with the planning, and implementation of the program activities while working with clients.
  • Identify and respond to client behavior challenges by supporting with de-escalation.
  • Assist the Community Supports Program Coordinator with ensuring that the site is kept clean, sanitized and organized.
  • Communicate with Community Supports Program Coordinator about client participation and behavior.
  • Serve as a positive role model for clients.
  • Be able to encourage, support and set limits for clients.
  • Know and understand ALL emergency procedures associated with the program.
  • Know, enforce, and follow all safety guidelines associated with the all program areas. This includes but is not limited to being responsible for your client’s safety and their whereabouts at all times.

Minimum Qualifications/Skills/Abilities

  • 18 years of age.
  • High School diploma or national equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of experience working with people with intellectual/developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to gather and analyze information skillfully.
  • Ability to take positive and constructive feedback on performance of duties in a way that is productive for ABA of Wisconsin, the agency, and the client(s).
  • Excellent customer service skills. Demonstrated problem-solving ability under challenging conditions.
  • Well organized and detail oriented. Ability to follow written protocol and accurately collect data.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship-building skills with employees, supervisors, clients, and other agencies to maintain effective working teams and relationships.
  • Excellent critical thinking and decision-making ability.
  • Demonstrated user skills with Microsoft Suite or Google Suite; ability to learn and master other software and user devices.
  • Ability to travel within assigned Wisconsin regions; must have reliable transportation.
  • Must possess a valid Wisconsin driver’s license and proof of personal auto insurance meeting Wisconsin minimum requirements.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects up to 15 pounds occasionally.
  • Successful completion of all required background checks.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods standing and walking.
  • Must be able to lift up to fifty pounds at a time.
  • Must be physically, mentally, and emotionally able to provide responsible care for all children, including children with disabilities.
  • Must be able to kneel, sit, stand, crawl, lower, bend, crouch, lunge, push, and pull to assist and instruct children throughout the day.
  • Repetitive movements of the knee, back, wrist, and hands; grasping securely with the hands.

We are looking to fill late afternoon/early evening hours: Monday-Thursday 12p-6p, Friday 12p-5p.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.50 - $18.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • Day shift
  • Evening shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as needed

Work Location: In person
