At Unita, we build spaces where people love to work, shop, stay and connect – from high-end retail and hospitality, to health and commercial fitouts across Australia. But great spaces don’t build themselves. Great teams do.
People have always been at the heart of what we do. From humble beginnings to national growth, our ambition has never outweighed our values. We’re fuelled by a shared passion to build better, together.
We’re looking for a Construction Manager – NSW to lead construction methodology, buildability and site readiness across our projects.
This is a key role in ensuring our sites are safe, well planned and executed with confidence – supporting our team to deliver quality outcomes for our clients.
The role
As Construction Manager, you’ll be the construction authority across our NSW projects. You’ll set clear standards for how work is built on site and work closely with Estimation and Delivery teams to resolve technical risk early and ensure projects are built the right way.
You’ll bring structure, clarity and calm to construction delivery – supporting Project Managers and Site Managers to make strong decisions and deliver high-quality outcomes for our clients.
What you’ll be responsible for
- Championing how we build on site – with strong standards, safe practices and pride in quality
- Driving consistent, well-run sites through clear methodology, resourcing and leadership
- Owning safety, quality and defect management across projects
- Growing the capability of our site leaders through practical guidance and example
- Applying experience and judgement to manage buildability and delivery risk
- Solving construction challenges in a calm, practical and solutions-focused way
What great looks like
- Sites are run safely, consistently and with pride in workmanship
- Construction standards are clear and applied across every project
- Safety and quality are embedded in how work is done, not just documented
- Defects are minimal and handovers are seamless
- Project teams feel supported and confident in their construction decisions
- Issues are handled calmly and practically without blame or drama
- Clients experience well-run sites and reliable delivery
Who this role suits
People who thrive as Construction Managers at Unita are practical, site-led delivery leaders who bring structure, clarity, and calm to how work is built. They use experience and judgement to lift build quality, prevent issues early, and support teams to execute work properly.
- Technically grounded – Brings strong site and trade experience and applies it to buildability, sequencing, and construction decisions.
- Standards-driven – Holds a clear line on safety, quality, and how work should be done, and reinforces it consistently on site.
- Calm under pressure – Stays steady when issues arise and focuses on practical solutions rather than blame or noise.
- Supportive leader – Coaches the team through construction challenges and helps them make better decisions.
- Embodies The Unita Way – Naturally lives our values and ‘Built Better Together’ philosophy – takes responsibility, works with others, seeks better ways of doing things, and represents the business with integrity and pride.
Experience we’re looking for
- Extensive experience leading delivery teams in fitout or construction environments.
- Strong background overseeing complex or high-risk projects.
- Demonstrated leadership of site teams.
- Sound understanding of commercial, contractual, and delivery risk.
- Trade and/or tertiary qualifications in Construction or Construction Management.
- Driver’s licence (Mandatory).
- General Construction Induction Card (Mandatory).
- Certificate IV in WHS (Desired).
What’s next
If this opportunity has your name written all over it, we’d love to hear from you.
Submit your application and tell us a little about why you’d be a great addition to the team.
At Unita, every team member shapes our culture in their own unique way. We value different backgrounds, perspectives and experiences, and we’re committed to creating a workplace where people feel safe, respected and able to do their best work. If this role excites you but you don’t tick every box, we still welcome your application.
PS - we’re handling this one in-house, no recruitment agencies please.
