About the role

We have an opportunity for a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist to join our team and provide expert support in the management of women with gynaecological cancer.

You will be working alongside experienced credentialed O&G Gynaecology Oncologist (GO) specialists from Christchurch, who currently provide monthly surgeries at Wellington Regional Hospital, while managing more complex cases referred to Christchurch. As the Consultant O&G in this role, you will have the chance to focus on assisting in theatre, clinics, triaging, developing guidelines, ward rounds, colposcopy, vulva clinics, MDM and provide backfill support for a year.

Women’s Health Service at Wellington Regional Hospital is a dynamic, innovative team who pride themselves in providing excellent secondary and tertiary care to our families. The team of Senior Medical officers provide clinical leadership to professionals within the team and across the organisation.


Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley district is located centrally in Wellington and has over 6,000 full-time equivalent staff, making us one of the major employers in the Wellington region. We operate three hospitals – Wellington Regional Hospital in Newtown, Hutt Valley Hospital and Kenepuru Hospital in Porirua – as well as the Kāpiti Health Centre at Paraparaumu.

About you

  • Vocationally registered in Obstetric & Gynaecology with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
  • FRANZCOG or equivalent to be able to register for vocational registration with the MCNZ
  • Focus on Gynaecology Oncology
  • Must participate on the oncall roster
  • Work in collaboration with multidisciplinary team
  • Able to provide consistently high standards of medical care
  • Relevant experience and training
