Rice Group manages a portfolio in excess of 2,000 acres primarily in the Greater Toronto Area. The portfolio consists of approximately 6.5 million square feet of industrial and commercial space with more than 10 million square feet in the development pipeline. The successful candidate will support various pre-construction and contract administration activities, ensuring accurate project estimates and effective coordination with consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors. This role is integral to the planning and execution of our development projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare tender packages, including drawings, specifications, and collection of required reports from consultants.
- Perform quantity take-offs from project plans and specifications to support accurate cost estimation.
- Generate Requests for Information (RFI’s) to Engineers regarding scope elements related to tender packages; lead the response and closure of associated RFI’s
- Collect quotes and bids from suppliers and subcontractors to inform the tender process. Assist in preparing detailed cost estimates for real estate development projects.
- Maintain detailed records of estimates, bids, and related documentation for audit and reference purposes.
- Manage a database of historical project costs to support future planning and budgeting.
- Support contract administration, including assisting the Estimating team in negotiating and awarding contracts.
- Prepare contracts and purchase orders, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards.
- Prepare and track all Change Orders
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in construction management, engineering, or a related field preferred.
- 5-7+ years experience in estimating or contract administration within the construction or real estate sector is an asset.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with estimating software, MS Office Suite, and construction documentation.
- Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple deadlines effectively.
