The position may include some scheduled hours of Support work per week (as needed, after business hours, evenings or weekends); and hours will be adjusted as Coordinator caseload increases.

This job requires a vehicle with $2,000,000 liability insurance.

The coordinator is expected to:

  • Supervise the Support Workers to ensure that organization’s policies and procedures are followed
  • Communicate policies and procedures to the Support Workers
  • Ensure that safe work procedures are followed
  • Fully support the goals, objectives and mission statement of SSG
  • Establish and maintain open lines of communication with Support Workers
  • Interact on a regular basis with the Support Workers, communicate expectations and provide timely feedback
  • Promote effective working relationships and positive work environments while working with the Support Workers, the Members, families and other employees
  • Make sure that care plans are understood and followed by the Support Workers
  • Meet on a regular basis with the Support Workers, Members and families
  • Attend and contribute in a positive manner at Coordinator meetings and special organizational events
  • Ensure and organize orientation of Support Workers
  • Schedule shifts for Support Workers
  • Cover shifts if no other option available
  • Carry and use organization cell phone
  • Carry and use emergency cell phone on a rotational basis
  • Conduct performance reviews

Required qualifications for the position include:

  • Post-secondary education in Human Services or relevant field, or a minimum of 3 years of related experience
  • Strong supervisory and management skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Strong attention to detail while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality
  • Excellent organizational, leadership and people skills
  • Excellent time management and communication skills
  • Ability to travel between office locations in HRM, Bridgewater and New Minas using own vehicle

EMPLOYEE INCENTIVES:

  • $250 signing bonus upon successful completion of probation and core competencies training
  • Reimbursement for Standard First Aid certification and Criminal Record Check (with successful submission of receipts and upon successful completion of probation)

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $63,538.86 per year
