Job Type: FULL TIME | TUESDAY - SATURDAY

We specialize in hard-to-source interior and exterior home finishing products including flooring, doors, mouldings and especially wood products. SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Counter Sales Associates’ primary focus is customer service. They mainly work with Contractor Customers through the entire sales cycle – from initial greeting to final sale. The products sold require an order fill & solution-based approach to support our contractor’s projects. Will be instructed to establish sales relationships with targeted, key builder accounts and assist walk-in customers as required.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

1. Contractor Customer Service

  • Ensure every customer experience exceeds the customer’s expectations – go the “extra-mile”
  • Developing a professional strong long-term relationship with Contractors
  • Proactively engage, assess, and anticipate the needs of each customer individually
  • Answer in-coming phone calls & emails in a professional prompt manner
  • Assist with entire sales-cycle – includes retrieving, handling, and load coordination

2. Inventory

  • Ordering regular stocking inventory & Contractor Special-Orders
  • Strong Product Knowledge to enhance “value-added” sales component
  • Processing transactions – Purchase Orders, Quotes, Invoices, Packing Slips
  • Utilize software and/or procedures to process building-supply orders for Contractors
  • Assist with the stock inventory counting & receiving of materials when directed

3. Sales

  • Proactively communicate with Contractors as shipments & back-orders arrive
  • Bring a sense of ownership and accountability for the operation
  • Be aware of all major changes to Building Envelope code changes that may affect products & materials provided by the Company
  • Actively monitor stock levels, organization & provide input on pricing
  • Develop a list of leads & future projects for follow up
  • Obtain bid opportunities & develop quotes based on company pricing policy

4. Operations

  • Diligently follow checklists, policies, processes, procedures & provided guides
  • Handle Contractor problems & complaints in a positive & constructive manner
  • Be familiar with Company credit policies and account management
  • Be observant of Contractors & Drivers who appear to be acting in a manner of Theft
  • Follow OHS company guidelines and maintain a safe & positive work-environment

5. Teamwork & Training

  • Find innovative methods to supply products | substitution, special orders, transfers
  • Share product knowledge and Industry best-practices with all staff
  • Actively participate, help develop, and contribute to Counter Sales training initiatives
  • Provide innovative feedback and share concerns openly with management using discretion

6. Assigned Tasks & Duties

  • Depending on the needs of the business there will be appropriate & reasonable changes made to the scope of your job description on a regular basis. This will be based on the Manager’s discretion.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Education Required:

1. Must have completed Grade 12

2. Post secondary or Commercial | Counter Sales related training is an asset

Experience Requirements:

  • Applicants with prior Building Supply Industry experience | Building Codes, Blueprints, Permits will be considered an asset. Applicants with professional skills from other industries will be strongly considered and will be provided industry-related training from Windsor Plywood.
  • Prior Contractor Customer-Service experience is an asset
  • Permanent resident of Canada and Driver’s License is preferred

  • Strong work ethic and self-motivated/self-directed, with an ability to work independently using sound judgment, logical reasoning skills, and intuition
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to be personable and social with customers to help deliver sales & build relationships
  • Prioritize tasks and manage time effectively, always mindful of the customer
  • Flexible, honest, acting in all situations with professionalism and integrity
  • Able to deal with changes, delays, or unexpected events in a professional & timely manner

GENERAL WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Busy, high-volume work environment
  • Must be available to work Tuesday - Saturday
  • Regular overtime will be offered and expected during staff shortages, seasonal high traffic periods, inventory-counts and special projects
  • Visual ability to use Computer screens & read small labels
  • Auditory ability to use telephone hand-set
