Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide exceptional care and support to individuals with diverse needs. In this vital role, you will assist residents with daily activities, promote independence, and foster a safe, nurturing environment. Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes promptly to healthcare teams.
- Administer medications following HIPAA guidelines and care plans, ensuring safety and accuracy at all times.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs, including cooking and meal planning for residents in assisted living or home care settings.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing regular cleaning duties in accordance with health standards.
- Support residents during outings or community activities to promote social interaction and engagement.
- Document care activities accurately in compliance with privacy regulations such as HIPAA while respecting resident confidentiality.
Experience
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of patient observation techniques and dementia or Alzheimer’s care is advantageous.
- Experience with medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and developing or following care plans is essential.
- Familiarity with working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, or other special needs enhances your ability to provide tailored support.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training or hospice care experience are a plus.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Strong interpersonal skills for working compassionately with residents, families, and healthcare professionals are crucial for success in this role.
Pay: From $16.00 per hour
