Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide essential care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, including those with Alzheimer's, dementia, and autism. The ideal candidate will have experience in home and community care settings, group homes, or assisted living facilities. This role requires a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for our residents through personalized care and support.
Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Provide patient care and monitoring, ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals in your care.
- Implement care plans tailored to each resident's needs and preferences.
- Administer medications as prescribed while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Engage residents in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and cognitive stimulation.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization within living spaces to ensure a safe environment.
- Perform vital sign checks and assist with patient observation to monitor health conditions.
- Support residents in mobility needs, including the use of Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and social workers to coordinate comprehensive care.
Requirements
- Previous experience in caregiving or direct support roles is preferred, particularly in long-term care settings or nursing homes.
- Knowledge of first aid and CPR certification is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with working with individuals with developmental disabilities, including autism and dementia care.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with residents and their families.
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting as needed for resident assistance.
- Understanding of patient monitoring techniques and vital sign assessment.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.50 - $20.00 per hour
