EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

The Cathedral Choral Society (CCS) is seeking a creative, strategic, and highly motivated Marketing Director to lead marketing and patron engagement. This role is essential to growing our audiences, ensuring the highest level of patron satisfaction, and elevating the profile of CCS across multiple platforms. The ideal candidate brings a balance of artistic sensibility and analytical rigor, with expertise in graphic design, digital marketing, and budgeting.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing & Communications

  • Develop and implement annual marketing strategies to support concert ticket sales and brand visibility.
  • Create and manage content across print, digital, and social media platforms, ensuring consistent branding and tone, in coordination with our Director of Communication and Philanthropy.
  • Write, design, and distribute e-newsletters, promotional materials, press releases, and concert programs.
  • Working closely with our PR firm, maintain media relationships and coordinate interviews and press coverage.

Design & Multimedia

  • Lead in-house graphic design for all promotional materials including brochures, posters, digital ads, and social content.
  • Produce and edit videos for marketing campaigns and to support donor engagement.
  • Oversee photography and videography for events and rehearsals, maintaining a digital asset library.

Website & Digital Presence

  • Manage and update the organization’s website, ensuring accessibility, accuracy, and SEO best practices.
  • Working with our venue partners – primarily the Washington National Cathedral – oversee ticketing and event listings to ensure a seamless user experience.

Budgeting & Analytics

  • Develop and manage the annual ticketing and marketing budget in collaboration with the Executive Director.
  • Track marketing ROI and key performance indicators to inform strategy and reporting.
  • Coordinate with development and artistic teams to align marketing with institutional goals.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in marketing, preferably in the performing arts or nonprofit sector.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro or similar).
  • Experience with website CMS (e.g., WordPress), email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp), and social media tools.
  • Exceptionally strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail and deadlines.

Work Environment

  • Hybrid work schedule available (in-person preferred on Tuesdays, rehearsals as needed, and concerts and key meetings).
  • Occasional evening and weekend work required for rehearsals, events, and performances.

COMPENSATION

Salary range: $70,000-$80,000, commensurate with experience. Benefits include health insurance, an available 403(b) retirement plan, professional development opportunities, and competitive PTO.
