Dog Daycare Attendant (Part-Time)

Furry Friends Spa and Daycare is looking for a new part-time daycare attendant. We are looking for motivated individuals to work mostly afternoons (2pm to 6h30pm) and the occasional morning shift for blocks of 4 hours +.

We are located downtown, in Old Ottawa East, at 56 Hawthorne Avenue. Easily accessible by car, bus and bicycle.

This position consists of:

- Supervising dogs; ensuring they’re happy and safely interacting

- Properly controlling the energy and excitement level of the dogs (separating dogs into different play groups if needed)

- Cleaning up after the dogs

- Making phone calls/emailing owners, booking appointments

- Answering questions from clients, reporting how their dog did during the day

- Taking payment from clients, processing the checkouts through the computer system (Daysmart)

- Closing store at end of day, sanitizing, sweeping and mopping daycare area

You must have adequate experience working with dogs in a professional setting. Vet techs, vet assistants, dog trainers, kennel workers, groomers, bathers, dog walkers, shelter volunteers, etc. are all examples of dog experience we’re looking for.

This position requires a person with a calm disposition around dogs. Someone who walks into the daycare area relaxed, does not allow dogs to jump on them, and effectively calms the group in a short amount of time.

You need to know how to control a pack of dogs. The ideal person for this position will:

- Have excellent knowledge of dog breeds, behaviour and body language.

- Know when play is escalating and needs to be interrupted.

- Be comfortable preventing and potentially stopping fights.

- Be professional, welcoming and polite to clients.

- Follow direction well, work positively with others as well as alone.

- Previous experience with DaySmart Pet (previously 123Pet) is not required but an added asset.

This position is part-time. The pay will start at minimum wage.
