The Hotel Imperial, with 138 rooms and suites, is one of the most exclusive 5* hotels in Vienna and one of the most famous hotels worldwide. In a historic setting with state-of-the-art amenities, our guests are offered the highest quality of service and an authentic experience.

Vienna's award-winning gourmet restaurant, OPUS, serves modern interpretations of regional cuisine with an international touch in an elegant setting. The classic Viennese coffee house, Café Imperial, offers living tradition with Viennese specialties and the world-famous “Imperial Torte.” In the social heart of the hotel, the Imperial Bar, cozy wing chairs invite guests to linger over cocktails and small culinary delights.

The Hotel Imperial Vienna—the epitome of history, elegance, and Viennese hospitality—is one of the most iconic luxury hotels in the world. To strengthen our front office team, we are looking for a committed, confident, and service-oriented personality as Duty Manager (m/f/d).

In this key role, you will assume overall operational responsibility during your shifts, have a significant impact on the guest experience, and act as the central manager and main contact person for guests, employees, and external partners.


Your responsibilities

Guest experience & service quality

  • Professional service recovery and handling of sensitive guest feedback
  • Personalized care for VIP, regular, and state guests
  • Creating exceptional, tailor-made experiences
  • Ensuring an elegant and efficient check-in/check-out process
  • Enforcement of Luxury Collection standards
  • Support for film and photo shoots on weekends

Operational management as Manager on Duty (MOD)

  • Working as MOD on weekends and three additional weekdays per week
  • Holistic coordination of hotel operations
  • Close cooperation with all departments to solve operational challenges
  • Monitoring public areas for cleanliness and brand standards


Security & Compliance

  • Conducting regular security patrols
  • Compliance with all security and fire safety guidelines
  • Crisis and emergency management in accordance with hotel protocols
  • Supporting night management as needed


Team Leadership & Support

  • Direct reporting line to the Director of Rooms
  • Coaching and supporting the front office team
  • Handling escalations and providing guidance in challenging guest situations
  • Promoting a positive, motivating work environment


Financial & Administrative Tasks

  • Support with cash register checks, refunds, and approvals
  • Monitoring availability, upgrades, VIP handling, and special requests
  • Close coordination with housekeeping, reservations, and other departments


Your profile

  • Experience in a management or supervisory role in the luxury hotel industry, ideally front office
  • Strong skills in complaint management/service recovery
  • Very good German and English skills; other languages are an advantage
  • High resilience, confident decision-making and elegant demeanor
  • Experience with Opera PMS or comparable systems
  • Stylish, authentic personality with a passion for Viennese hospitality
  • Service-oriented, empathetic, solution-oriented, and detail-oriented
  • Passion for culturally influenced luxury hospitality and individualized service
  • Required: EU citizenship or valid work permit for Austria

Conclusion & Salary Information

We offer you a responsible position in an iconic luxury hotel, an international environment, diverse development opportunities, and a friendly, appreciative team.

This full-time position is subject to a minimum gross monthly salary of €2,492 (BG2) under the collective agreement. A higher salary commensurate with your qualifications and experience is of course provided.
