Gwynne Valley Rural Academy Core Values
Growing Together through Early Vocational Exposure
At GVRA, as we strive to grow together through early vocational exposure, we hold these core values as guiding principles and are passionately committed to upholding them as cultural cornerstones while demonstrating them through our actions.
Dignity
The right of a person to be respected and valued.
We believe that all people hold equal and special value. One’s value is not dependent upon achievement, ability, race, class, behavior or any other factor but based solely on being human. Dignity is demonstrated when we recognize that all humans are good inside, worthy of love, compassion and respect regardless of what is presented externally. This core value is foundational to all others.
Innovation
The ability to seek out and try new ways of achieving a goal.
We celebrate unconventional ways of doing things, not for the sake of being non-conforming, but to create better outcomes that are aligned with our vision, mission and values. Being innovative requires courage to challenge the status quo, creativity to explore possible solutions, curiosity to ask what hasn’t been asked and confidence that whether one succeeds or falls short they will have gained much.
With the goal of providing the students in the Gwynne community an opportunity to thrive through quality education in their own community, an innovative solution is being brought to life through Gwynne Valley Rural Academy.
Symbiosis
The mutually nurturing connections within and among all in our community.
We strive to mirror the symbiotic relationships found in nature, thus creating an interdependent, reciprocal system where diversity provides strength and resources are shared. All in service of evolving into healthy, thriving individuals in a healthy, thriving community. The stronger the connections between individuals in the system, the stronger and healthier the system.
Resilience
Learning to flex one’s “I can stick with it” muscles for the sake of achieving a worthy goal.
Resilience is about developing the capacity to stay in and with tough, challenging moments even when we don’t have confirmation of achievement. It requires adapting to difficult circumstances, overcoming obstacles, flexibility, emotional strength, and an ability to bounce back. Resilience happens in the space before a win.
Resilience is being demonstrated and developed in the ongoing efforts to launch Gwynne Valley Rural Academy.
