Equipment Operator

Key Responsibilities:

• Safely operate heavy equipment including excavators, skid steers, mini excavators, backhoes, and compactors.
• Excavate trenches and install duct banks according to plans and specifications.
• Perform daily inspections and basic preventive maintenance on assigned equipment.
• Work in compliance with MWAA regulations, project safety standards, and FAA airfield protocols.
• Follow direction from site superintendent and foreman while maintaining high productivity.
• Support general site work, including grading, backfilling, and material handling.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience operating heavy equipment on civil, utility, or sitework projects.
• Proven experience on duct bank or similar underground electrical conduit installations.
• Ability to read and interpret utility locates and site drawings.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to pass a full federal background check to gain access to secure areas of the airport.
• OSHA 10 or 30 certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working on federally funded or secure infrastructure projects.
• Ability to work on MWAA safety and operational procedures.
• Experience operating in congested or high-traffic environments.
• CDL license is a plus but not required.

Work Environment & Conditions:

• Outdoor work on an active airport site; must be able to work in varying weather conditions.
• Monday–Friday schedule with possible weekend or night work depending on airport operations.
• Must be able to lift 50+ lbs and handle physically demanding tasks.
