Family Associate Lawyer
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled lawyer to join our fast growing and exciting legal team.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the law, excellent analytical skills, an entrepreneurial flair and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues. This role involves providing legal advice, representing clients in various legal matters, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Watchmaker Law is a civil litigation firm dedicated to helping Albertans navigate and resolve disputes across a broad range of legal areas. The firm is known for combining strong, strategic advocacy with an empathetic and client‑centred approach to conflict resolution.

Duties
- Conduct thorough legal research to support case preparation and strategy.
- Draft legal documents, including contracts, pleadings, and motions with precision and accuracy.
- Negotiate settlements and agreements on behalf of clients to achieve favorable outcomes.
- Represent clients in court proceedings, mediations, and arbitrations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws and regulations through continuous education.
- Collaborate with other legal professionals to develop case strategies and share insights.
- Utilize legal research tools such as Lexis-Nexis to gather necessary information for cases.
- Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and provide clear guidance.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree from a recognized institution
- Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta.
- Minimum 5 years practicing in the area of Family Law.
- Strong advocacy and negotiation skills.
- Excellent research and writing abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preference will be given to candidates with an established book of business.
This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where you can grow your legal expertise while making a significant impact for your clients.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Starting $125,000.00 per year (This position is structured on a fee-split basis, offering flexibility and strong earning potential based on your performance).
The successful candidate will be supported with a strong marketing and client-acquisition plan.

- Bonus pay
- Commission pay
- On-site free parking (Downtown Edmonton).
