Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Freight Broker to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in facilitating the movement of goods by connecting shippers with carriers. This position requires strong negotiation skills, an understanding of supply chain logistics, and the ability to manage customer relationships effectively. As a Freight Broker, you will be responsible for ensuring timely and efficient transportation solutions while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.

Duties

• Manage Shipments: Coordinate freight movement by matching shippers with carriers to ensure timely and cost-effective transportation.
• Negotiate Rates: Communicate with shippers and carriers to negotiate competitive shipping rates and maximize profitability.
• Build Relationships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, carriers, and dispatchers to foster long-term partnerships.
• Track Shipments: Monitor freight in transit to ensure on-time delivery, resolve any delays or issues, and provide updates to customers.
• Handle Documentation: Prepare and maintain shipping records, contracts, and other necessary documents in compliance with legal and company requirements.
• Sales & Customer Service: Prospect new clients, generate leads, and provide excellent customer service to retain and grow business.
• Problem Solving: Address transportation issues such as delays, route changes, and truck availability with quick, effective solutions.
• Use of Software: Utilize freight brokerage and transportation management systems (TMS) for load posting, tracking, and reporting.
• Compliance: Ensure all shipments comply with federal, state, and industry regulations including DOT standards.
• Market Research: Stay informed on market trends, fuel costs, and freight rates to make informed pricing and routing decisions.

Skills

• Proficient in data entry with a keen eye for detail.
• Strong sales skills with the ability to negotiate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of freight operations and logistics processes.
• Experience in inside sales or account management is preferred.
• Familiarity with supply chain principles and practices.
• Excellent customer relationship management skills, ensuring client satisfaction at all stages of the process.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a collaborative environment.
• Proficient in using transportation management systems (TMS) or 3PL software is a plus.
