Freight Service Representative

StraitNZ is a unique, nationwide end-to-end transport service, connecting New Zealand across both road and sea. Our fleet of 2 ships and over 200 trucks is supported by a nationwide network of 10 depots and a 450+ strong team to deliver hundreds of thousands of tonnes of freight (and passengers) weekly.
Who are we looking for?
- You need to be reliable and happy to work independently on a shift roster.
- You are an organised planner, an administration whiz and have great communication skills.
- You can pick up tech systems quickly and can speak clearly on the phone with clients
- You enjoy being in a busy environment where you may need to make decisions under pressure.
- You work well in a diverse team environment and can also work unsupervised when required.
- You need a full and clean drivers license.

You will have experience working in the transport industry OR a role of similar relevance and skills
- You must be able to work full-time in the freight office on the beautiful Wellington waterfront.
*To be considered for this role, you will need to be able to satisfy a pre-employment drug and alcohol, medical exam and a MOJ check. Candidates must also have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa and currently reside in New Zealand to be considered for this role.*
What will you be doing?
- Providing freight solutions and quotes to our customers in regard to their shipping requirements
- Taking bookings and ensuring customers get the best service every time
- Coordinate and oversee the loading/unloading of freight and trucks from our ships
- Working closely with our drivers and ship mates to ensure a seamless transition from land to water every time.
- To attend all vessels to handle the mooring lines for arrivals and departures.
- Report any maintenance requirements, safety issues or complaints promptly and through the correct channels.
- Experience working in a administration, coordination or service representative based role
- Can-do attitude to work and learning new tasks
- Available for shift work - weekends and public holidays included
- Knowledge of freight & transportation industry
- Has used BookIT or other tech systems previously
