We are seeking an experienced, compassionate, and highly dependable Senior Carer to join
our care team and provide one-to-one care for an elderly lady living in her own home in the
Stillorgan area. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who takes pride in delivering
high-quality, attentive care and is confident in taking additional responsibility to ensure the
client’s wellbeing and comfort at home.
The ideal candidate will work with the Family Care Coordinator to update the Care Plan as
care needs evolve and take primary in the home responsibility for ensuring processes are in
place to manage medications, highlight concerns that need to be addressed by suitable
medical professionals, ensure the living and sleeping environment are healthy and clean and
interact as needed with the clients medical team and make proactive suggestions that improve quality of life.
This role requires a proactive approach to monitoring health and wellbeing, ensuring
standards of care are consistently maintained, and communicating effectively with the in care
team.
Work Schedule:
This is a rotational role, working 4 days on and 4 days off, offering a balanced schedule with
regular time off.
Typical hours: 8:00am to 7:00pm (occasionally up to 8:00pm)
You will work closely with another carer to ensure continuity of care, accurate handovers,
and consistent daily routines.

Key Responsibilities:
Personal Care:
Provide high-quality assistance with washing, dressing, mobility, continence care, and overall
daily living needs while maintaining dignity and comfort at all times.
Medication Oversight:
Ensure medications are administered in line with prescribed instructions. Check, count, and
monitor medication supplies, maintain accurate records, and promptly report any
discrepancies or concerns.
Ensure the processes for recording and administering medication and the storage of
medications is professional grade.
Health Monitoring:
Proactively monitor physical and cognitive wellbeing, identifying early signs of health
concerns, discomfort, or changes in condition. Make suggestions to the team for new
approaches and escalate concerns to the Family Care Coordinator.
Meal Preparation:
Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks, taking into account dietary needs and
preferences.
Home Environment:
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised living environment, including light housekeeping and
laundry duties.
Companionship & Engagement:
Provide meaningful companionship, emotional reassurance, and support with short walks or
appointments where required.
Communication & Reporting:
Maintain clear, detailed daily notes and provide structured updates to the Family Care
Coordinator regarding wellbeing, medication, and any observed changes.
Continuity of Care:
Ensure thorough shift handovers and uphold agreed care standards consistently.
Requirements:
Previous experience in a Senior Carer role or demonstrable experience taking additional
responsibility for medication management, health monitoring, and care standards
Significant prior experience caring for elderly individuals (home care or professional
setting)
Confidence in medication handling and health observation
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – compassion, professionalism, and
reliability are essential
Ability to work independently and use sound judgement
Full, clean driver’s licence and access to your own car (mileage expenses reimbursed)
Fluent English (spoken and written)
References required before starting
