ABOUT THE ROLE
We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate and detail-oriented Garment Technician with knitwear product experience to join our team. In this role, you will support our designers and production team with forming accurate tech packs including technical details, measurements and raw materials.
This is a hands-on role and is responsible for performing quality inspections and tests ensuring the timely and successful receipt of quality products from our manufacturers whilst pro-actively addressing and preventing any concerns. This role is based 5 days per week in our Hawthorn East head office.
Reporting to the Garment Technician & QC, you will –
- Across wovens and knitwear, manage tech packs throughout the production process, from sample stage to final sign-off for both local and off-shore makers.
- Measure all Salesman Samples and ensure tech packs are accurate.
- Collaborate with the Design and Production teams ensuring smooth communication through the product development process.
- Attend all fittings, communicating changes to all internal and external stakeholders (including factories) and updating tech packs accordingly.
- Drive and implement effective inspection, testing and quality systems, ensuring quality standards of all products are met.
- Ensure all stakeholders, including supplier base and makers (both local and offshore) are educated and meet Viktoria & Woods quality standards at all times
- Drive risk management initiatives including corrective action processes as required for both internal and external stakeholders to reduce quality risks to final product
- Provide technical knowledge and support during the garment life cycle to ensure garment quality
- Analyse and report quality and inspection results to stakeholders, including returns reporting
- Oversee inbound Quality Assurance checks at TOB stage of all styles
- Implement initiatives to drive reduction in Quality/Fit related returns
- Monitor and maintain fit, construction, and workmanship standards and ensure consistency across all factories (both local and offshore)
YOU WILL BRING:
- Sound knowledge of garment construction, patternmaking and grading, with strong experience in knitwear product development
- 3+ years of experience in a Garment Technician role
- Experience in a fast-paced, agile and deadline-driven business is essential
- A strategic mindset with the ability to work both collaboratively in a cross-functional team and independently.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationship and communicate/influence with all levels of stakeholders
- Impeccable written and verbal communication
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong customer focus, communication and interpersonal skills
- Clear verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in communicating with suppliers/manufacturers
- A positive attitude and enthusiasm to work collaboratively with team members
