As part of the continued expansion of our world-class Data, AI & Research Technology (DART) practice, Prospect 33 is adding another exceptional Gen AI Lead/Data Scientist (PhD) to our team.

This role is anchored in Halifax, where a large portion of our engineering leadership is based. That said, we are a performance-driven firm first and foremost, and we will thoughtfully consider standout candidates from other locations who bring rare technical depth and leadership.

You will sit at the core of P33, leading high-impact initiatives for some of the world’s most sophisticated banks and asset managers. This is not a vendor or staff-augmentation role. You will be a full member of our firm, owning architecture and delivery end-to-end, and shaping how generative and predictive AI transforms investment research, sales, trading, and risk across global markets.

What You’ll Do

• Build and productionize next-generation data products and AI signals using traditional and alternative data at scale.
• Design, optimize, and lead end-to-end Data & ML pipelines (ingestion → feature stores → training → low-latency inference) that directly influence multi-billion-dollar strategies.
• Provide distributed-systems leadership by profiling Spark/Databricks workloads, eliminating latency and cost inefficiencies, and setting technical standards across engagements.
• Drive MLOps and GenAI adoption (CI/CD, IaC, MLflow, LLM orchestration, agent frameworks).
• Mentor high-potential junior engineers and represent P33 technically with senior client stakeholders, including C-suite executives.

Must-Have Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent experience in the AI field
• Expert-level proficiency in Python, SQL, PySpark, and modern ML frameworks in large-scale production environments.
• Deep understanding of algorithms, data structures, distributed systems, and large-scale model training.
• Demonstrated track record of research-to-production execution, shipping production-grade AI or ML systems.
• Strong grounding in statistical modeling, machine learning theory, and applied AI system design.

Strong Advantages

• Hands-on experience with Generative AI, including LLMs, RAG architectures, agent frameworks, prompt engineering, and model evaluation.
• Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, Kubernetes, Terraform, and cloud-native AI platforms.
• Prior exposure to capital markets, including investment research, trading, risk, financial data, or alternative data.
• Experience translating advanced research or experimental AI work into robust, scalable production systems.
