Kelehans Bar & Restaurant is seeking an experienced hospitality manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day running and performance of our established bar and restaurant in Bushypark, Galway.
This is a senior, hands-on role with responsibility across the business, from leading the team and maintaining excellent customer standards to managing staffing, costs, margins and overall performance.
We are looking for someone with strong hospitality experience who is organised, commercially aware and comfortable taking ownership of the operation. The successful candidate will have the autonomy to manage the business day to day while working closely with ownership to deliver the agreed vision and direction for the continued development and growth of the business.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure the business is appropriately staffed in line with trading levels while maintaining high standards of service and customer care.
- Prepare and manage staff rosters across the food and beverage operation.
- Control payroll and labour costs in line with agreed budgets and ensure working hours are accurately recorded and managed.
- Work towards agreed financial budgets, revenue targets and departmental KPIs.
- Monitor sales, margins, stock, wastage and other operating costs to maximise profitability.
- Lead, motivate and develop the team, maintaining a positive and professional working environment.
- Manage recruitment, onboarding, training and ongoing staff development.
- Carry out employee performance reviews and identify areas where additional training or development may be required.
- Coach and support managers and staff to improve performance and service standards.
- Ensure all areas of the premises are maintained and presented to a consistently high standard.
- Oversee stock control, purchasing and supplier relationships.
- Work with the kitchen and bar teams to ensure both departments operate efficiently and work effectively together.
- Work with owner on the implementation of promotions, offers, events and other initiatives designed to drive sales.
- Oversee the organisation of live entertainment and events and coordinate their promotion with the owner.
- Identify opportunities to increase sales, develop new business and grow existing areas of the operation.
- Ensure compliance with licensing, food safety, health & safety and all other relevant operational requirements.
- Take overall responsibility for the smooth and successful day-to-day running of the business.
Ideal Candidate
- Strong management experience within a busy bar, restaurant or similar hospitality environment.
- Previous General Manager experience is preferred; however, we would also welcome applications from experienced senior hospitality managers ready to take the next step.
- Strong people-management and leadership skills.
- Good commercial understanding of labour costs, stock, margins and profitability.
- Comfortable working with budgets, KPIs and financial targets.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Confident making decisions and taking responsibility for the operation.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A hands-on management style with a willingness to lead from the floor during busy periods.
- Good understanding of the Irish food and beverage industry.
