General Practice Nurse

We’re a friendly, forward-thinking GP practice and we’re looking for an experienced Practice Nurse to join our team on a part-time basis for 22 to 25 hours per week.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a supportive environment where your skills are valued and your input genuinely makes a difference. We're open to either 4 mornings or 4 mornings and 2 afternoon sessions per week (Tuesday and Thursday mornings are mandatory), and we can offer flexibility around scheduling for the right candidate.

Location: Leixlip Family Practice, 276 River Forest, Leixlip, Co. Kildare, W23 K6W4

The Role:

You’ll be delivering high-quality care to patients of all ages. Your clinical expertise will support both preventative and responsive care, with a focus on:

• Primary childhood and adult vaccinations
• Cervical smears (Cervical Check registration required)
• Chronic Disease Management Programe
• Skin/wound care (Suture removal/dressing), Aural care
• Telephone triage and patient advice
• Phlebotomy
• Suture removal
• ECG/ 24-hour ABPM/ Spirometry
• Ear syringing
• Antenatal care ( including 2 and 6 week checks in conjunction with GP).
• Blood test results-Actions( as per GP/protocol).
• Sexual health/Family planning
• Administering Prescribed long-term medications/injections
• Health promotion and education
• Manage clinical stock, cold chain and administration of state scheme

Requirements

• Must be currently registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
• Minimum of 2 years' nursing experience post qualifications
• Must have General Practice or Primary Care experience of 2 years
• Cervical Check training essential
• Vaccinator training desirable
• Confident working independently and as part of a team
• Confident using clinical systems (Socrates is the practice software – training can be provided)
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Must hold a valid work visa (Stamp 4 or Stamp 1G) or be an EU/EEA citizen

Job Type: Part-time, Fixed-Term ( 12 months/ permanent)

Pay: €25.00–€30.00 per hour (negotiable depending on experience)

Expected Hours: 22-25 hours per week (4 mornings or 4 mornings and1 -2 afternoon sessions)

Schedule:

• Monday to Thursday mornings plus Monday /Tuesday afternoon
• No weekend work

Work Location: In person
