Overview

Duties
- Perform gross examination of surgical specimens, including measuring, describing, and documenting tissue samples with precision.
- Prepare tissue specimens through embedding, sectioning, and staining techniques following established laboratory protocols.
- Ensure proper labeling and documentation of all specimens to maintain traceability and accuracy throughout the diagnostic process.
- Assist in specimen collection and processing, adhering strictly to aseptic techniques to prevent contamination.
- Maintain detailed records of procedures performed, specimen details, and laboratory notes in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Support quality control measures by inspecting specimens for adequacy and reporting any discrepancies or issues promptly.
- Collaborate with pathologists, laboratory technologists, and healthcare professionals to facilitate smooth workflow and accurate diagnoses.
Requirements
- Clinical laboratory experience or research laboratory experience with a focus on tissue processing or specimen handling.
- Knowledge of laboratory procedures including embedding, sectioning, staining, and slide preparation.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pathology concepts, and laboratory techniques.
- Experience with specimen collection/processing methods such as phlebotomy or other patient care procedures is highly desirable.
- Understanding of vital signs monitoring and aseptic techniques to ensure sample integrity and safety.
- Hospital or healthcare environment experience preferred; strong attention to detail and organizational skills essential.
