H&S Specialist – Germany & Netherlands

Locations: Multiple sites across Germany and the Netherlands
Travel: Approximately 60% domestic and regional travel required

Role Overview
For a large steel manufacturing company that produces a wide range of steel products used in construction, automotive, appliances, packaging, and many other industries we are seeking a knowledgeable Health & Safety Specialist to enhance safety culture and risk management practices across several operational sites in Germany and the Netherlands. This role involves delivering targeted coaching, conducting site assessments, and working closely with leadership to foster a safer workplace environment.

Primary Duties

• Drive improvements in safety awareness, operational risk controls, and behavioral safety practices throughout the organization’s sites.
• Perform frequent site visits, including audits, safety observations, and stakeholder consultations to evaluate and enhance current practices.
• Design and facilitate training programs, workshops, and personalized coaching sessions addressing health and safety topics.
• Compile and present regular updates detailing safety performance, trends, and recommended actions.
• Partner with site management to identify critical safety priorities and implement effective solutions.
• Monitor and contribute to safety metrics and reporting frameworks.
• Share practical lessons learned and safety insights across the broader safety network.
• Support leadership with various initiatives aimed at elevating the overall health and safety strategy.

Required Background

• Degree in engineering, physical sciences, chemistry, or a related discipline.
• Advanced certification in health and safety is an asset
• Demonstrated expertise in occupational safety, risk evaluation, and behavioral safety methodologies.
• Experience delivering engaging health and safety training and coaching.

Language Requirements
