s a Health and Safety Manager at Kiwi Newton Group, you’ll lead our organization’s health and safety programs to ensure compliance, continuous improvement, and a strong culture of safety across all operations. Working closely with project teams, management, and the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC), you’ll design and implement programs that protect our people, strengthen our processes, and enhance our commitment to workplace well-being.
This role is ideal for a proactive, detail-oriented professional who is passionate about safety leadership, thrives on collaboration, and has the expertise to ensure all projects are executed to the highest safety standards.

Position Details:

  • 41 Massey Rd, Guelph, Ontario, Canada, N1H 7M6
  • Monday to Friday, 8am-5:00pm (occasional travel to job sites as required)
  • Full-time, on-site with regular visits to construction and project locations

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Promote and maintain a strong health and safety culture throughout the organization
  • Plan, organize, and implement programs and procedures that ensure compliance with legislation, industry standards, and corporate policies
  • Maintain the company’s Certificate of Recognition (COR) certification and oversee annual audits
  • Lead the WSIB Health & Safety Excellence Program, ensuring successful completion each calendar year
  • Conduct site inspections, hazard assessments, and internal audits; prepare reports and verify completion of corrective actions
  • Lead or support incident and accident investigations, including root cause analysis, reporting, and corrective actions
  • Develop and review Project Safety Plans, ensuring alignment with company policies and legislative requirements
  • Actively participate in the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) and provide leadership to all divisions on safety matters
  • Deliver training, toolbox talks, orientations, and other safety communications to workers, supervisors, and management
  • Maintain accurate health and safety documentation, statistics, and trend analyses for continuous improvement.
  • Support WSIB claims management, modified work programs, and return-to-work planning
  • Stay current with changes in health and safety legislation, WSIB policies, and best practices
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies, auditors, and external partners to ensure compliance and uphold company reputation
  • Ensure all employees have access to appropriate safety equipment, resources, and support

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Formal education in Occupational Health and Safety and/or Risk Management
  • 5 – 7 years of experience in a Health and Safety role, with 3–5 years in the construction industry (ICI construction preferred)
  • 1 – 3 years experience in a leadership role
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • NCSO designation and JHSC Part 1 & 2 certifications (or working toward) are assets
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Construction and Industrial Regulations under the OHSA
  • Experience with the WSIB Health & Safety Excellence Program (asset)
  • Experience with the COR 2020 program and audits
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Procore, and digital Health and Safety Management Systems (HSMS)
  • Excellent organizational, coaching, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Standard First Aid and AED certification required
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel to project sites as needed
