Mō tēnei tūranga | About the Role
Our Health Economists assess the value to New Zealand of funding new health technologies (medicines and medical devices). We are Aotearoa New Zealand's single largest health technology assessment team. We work closely with Te Pātaka Whaioranga | Pharmac's clinical advisors and commercial negotiators.
We are seeking a new Health Economist, or Senior Health Economist, on a permanent basis, to increase the team's capacity to assess medicines and medical devices in a fit-for-purpose and timely fashion. This is a real opportunity to be at the core of our operations - influencing decision making at the intersect of evidence-based medicine, economics, and commerce.
The role includes:
- Modelling the cost-effectiveness and budgetary impact of new pharmaceutical investment options;
- Assess all Factors for Consideration to support Pharmac in appraising the relative value of new pharmaceutical investments, including to populations with high health needs;
- Leveraging expertise from internal and external specialists to deliver high-quality, credible analysis;
- Communicating insights and economic methods to a variety of audiences, including staff, clinicians and suppliers;
- Critically appraising clinical and economic evidence to inform assessments and economic models.
