Position: Health & Safety Instructor
Employment: Part-time (16 - 24 Hours/Week)
Location: Edmonton, AB
Salary: $31.00 - 36.00 per hour, DOE
Worksite Safety is expanding its instructor-led training team to meet an increasing demand for First Aid and occupational safety education. If you are a knowledgeable and experienced health and safety instructor who is passionate about keeping people safe, then this role is for you!
This part-time, hourly-based position will be delivering Fall Protection and First Aid/CPR courses at our Edmonton Training Centre as well as at local event spaces. Other training courses may include Confined Space Entry. The role reports to the Manager, Instructor-Led Training and the working schedule will be 2 - 3 days/week, weekdays (8am-4pm), with some weekends if availability suits.
As a Health & Safety Instructor your key responsibilities are:
- Delivering engaging and informative Fall Protection training to job seekers, the general public and new and current members of the construction and oil & gas industries
- Delivering Emergency and Standard First Aid/CPR to students through discussions, provided audio-visual presentations and hands-on equipment training
- Evaluating participants through practical skills and written evaluation
- Potentially delivering other courses such as Confined Space Entry.
- Organizing, filing and submitting digital and hard copy participant records following training
- Participating in team meetings and instructor development workshops
The right candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:
- Certification as an Instructor with the Canadian Red Cross is required
- 3+ years’ experience delivering safety training (Fall Protection, ESC-certified courses, First Aid, Confined Space preferred)
- Background in health care, adult education, an emergency service-related field, construction, oil and gas management and/or occupational health & safety considered an asset
- Strong presentation and adult-engagement skills
- Responsible self-starter who can work independently, while also contributing to the instructor team
- Valid Alberta Driver Licence - occasional travel by car for work
- Reside and able to legally work in Canada
