Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Horizontal Directional Drill (HDD) Operator to join our dynamic construction team. In this role, you will operate specialized heavy equipment to install underground utilities with precision and efficiency. Your expertise will help ensure the successful completion of complex drilling projects, contributing to infrastructure development and maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Operate horizontal directional drilling equipment safely and accurately, adhering to project specifications and safety standards
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of drilling machinery, including Caterpillar and other heavy equipment
- Coordinate with project managers, site supervisors, and crew members to execute drilling plans effectively
- Assist with setup and breakdown of drilling sites, including excavation and utility installation tasks
- Monitor drilling operations for potential issues, adjusting techniques as needed to ensure optimal performance
- Maintain detailed records of drilling activities, equipment usage, and safety checks
- Follow all safety protocols and environmental regulations throughout the project lifecycle
Experience
- Proven experience operating horizontal directional drills in construction or utility installation projects
- Mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, water trucks, dump trucks, and tankers
- Familiarity with construction site procedures and safety standards
- Experience with Caterpillar machinery is highly desirable
- Ability to operate related equipment including water trucks, graders, loaders, backhoes, dozers, and dump trucks effectively
- Knowledge of construction materials and techniques related to paving and underground utility installation
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) preferred for transporting equipment and materials

Pay: $23.57 - $28.39 per hour
