Dining Room Hostess/Host
Department/Division: Food and Beverage
Reports To: Dining Room Manager, Food and Beverage Director
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly) $9.45 plus tips
Purpose for the Position:
To greet members upon entrance to dining room, direct members to appropriate seating, record and process to go orders, and record payments upon member’s completion of meal.
Essential Responsibilities:
1. Takes the initiative to greet members and guests in a friendly and courteous manner.
2. Schedules dining room reservations and arranges parties or special services for diners.
3. Greets members, escorts them to tables, provides menus, and adds or removes place settings as required.
4. Addresses complaints of patrons as directed by supervisor.
5. Assigns work tasks and coordinates activities of dining room personnel to ensure prompt and courteous service to patrons and fairness to servers.
6. Inspects dining room serving stations for neatness and cleanliness and requisitions table linens and other dining room supplies for tables and serving stations.
7. Notifies servers of new tables and notifies line cooks of the arrival of large parties.
8. May prepare beverages and expedite food orders.
9. May total cover counts and keep lot of days/nights business.
10. May collect payment from customers.
11. Completes sidework deemed necessary by management to ensure the smooth operation of the dining room.
12. Reports to work for scheduled shift, on time and in uniform in accordance with company policy.
13. Knows and complies with all company policies and procedures pertaining to this position and its duties.
14. If functioning in a Lead Capacity: (a) takes responsibility for assigned employees in the absence of the Supervisor, (b) assigns work, and ensures proper performance of assigned employees.

¨ Use judgement and reasoning to cope with emergencies, such as sudden illness, accident, or interrupted service.
¨ Perform a variety of activities, changing activities often and sometimes without notice.

Physical Demands:
Ability to exert up to 10-20 pounds of force occasionally
Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, or pull, or otherwise move objects
Ability to frequently stand for long periods of time
Ability to walk, stoop, bend and reach above head frequently
