We are looking for a seasoned HR Team Leader to lead a team of HR professionals supporting Aluminum Operations in both Bell Bay, Tasmania and Invercargill, New Zealand.

This role is a great opportunity for someone who has a passion for developing people, is a true collaborator, a trusted advisor and HR innovator. Reporting to the People Experience HR Manager, you will be:

  • Participating or leading multiple cross-functional initiatives, providing HR subject matter expert input and project leadership.

  • Imparting knowledge and your experiences to the team on their key areas of responsibility which include employee relations matters, building Leader capability, best practice HR systems and processes, facilitating organisational change and leading HR projects.

  • Providing guidance to the wider team and reporting to the senior leadership team on complex people matters.

  • Balancing busy workloads and complex stakeholder relationships and demonstrating your leadership capability through effectively engaging at all levels of the business.

  • Supporting with the implementation of Workday platform and supporting site based leaders with this platform integration.

  • Partnering with HRBP’s to identify and prioritise people priorities to support the business strategy and HR Operational delivery.

What you’ll bring

  • You are an astute and well-rounded leader who has proven techniques in providing robust HR solutions to relieve pain points for leaders.

  • Ability to think strategically and commercially, approach solutions creatively and consider organisation-wide impacts.

  • Solid generalist HR and ER experience with extensive experience with case management.

  • Strong team leadership and influencing skills are essential for this role.

  • Experience with Workday is beneficial.

Where you’ll be working

New Zealand’s Aluminium Smelter (NZAS) converts alumina into aluminium using renewable hydroelectricity, resulting in one of the lowest carbon footprints for an aluminium smelter in the world. The smelter is located on Tiwai Peninsula in Southland and the majority of the plant's alumina is supplied from our Yarwun and Queensland Alumina Limited refineries. Around 90% of the aluminium produced at NZAS is exported. NZAS is a joint venture owned by Rio Tinto (79.36%) and Japan’s Sumitomo Chemical Company (20.64%).
