Mo te turanga | About the role
- This role represents an exciting opportunity for a person to join our team to respond to calls from members of the public relating to environmental incidents and potential compliance issues of the Resource Management Act 1991 and other environmental legislation.
- The ability to adapt to new systems, manage multiple calls for service, apply investigative best practice, along with the ability to interact positively with a wide variety of people are fundamental for this role.
- The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a background in regulatory and incident response fields.
- This role involves attending complaints in the field and completing all the necessary information gathering and follow-up including providing detailed written reports.

Essential
- Previous investigative experience
- Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
- Strategic and tactical thinking skills
- Political awareness and skill in dealing with sensitive and confidential issues (including bi-cultural sensitivity)
- Proven success at building relationships and resolving issues with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to deliver in a political environment that could be high pressure and rapidly changing
- Proven ability to relate to wide ranging views of customers and stakeholders
- Can learn on the ‘fly’
Desirable
- Previous experience in local government
- Previous experience in compliance and legislative work.
