We are now looking for a Specialist, IT to join our team at the UPM Research Center. The position is located in Lappeenranta, Finland.

What you will do

In this role, you’ll be at the center of our digital laboratory ecosystem—contributing directly to how research and technology evolve. You will:

• Lead and implement development initiatives related to R&D information technology
• Administer, develop, and support our Laboratory Information Management System (LabVantage LIMS)
• Provide IT support for Laboratory Operations, including specialized measurement workstations and instrument software
• Drive integration between LIMS, ERP systems, and mill systems
• Collaborate closely with research center teams, UPM IT, tech partners, and vendors - building solutions together

Who you are

You’re someone who enjoys solving problems, mastering new technologies, and building digital foundations that teams rely on. To succeed in this role, you should have at least a bachelor’s degree in engineering, Information Technology. In addition, work experience with laboratory IT systems and IT projects is considered an asset. A potential candidate has also the following features:

• You are curious and passionate about possibilities that AI development brings and want to plan and implement AI‑enabled and automation‑driven development initiatives for R&D information technology
• Problem solving and organizing skills

• Good technical knowledge (hardware, software, databases, networks)

• Good communications and networking skills

• High flexibility

• Team working skills

• Three years of work experience in corresponding IT system support role

• Fluency in English and Finnish (spoken and written)
