Key Account Manager - Pet Specialty Retail

At Royal Canin, we specialize in scientifically formulated nutrition to support the unique needs of cats and dogs.

We are looking for a Key Account Manager to drive strategic partnerships and sales growth within the Pet Specialty Retail channel in New Zealand.

As the Key Account Manager, you will play a critical role in managing relationships with key corporate partners across omnichannel Pet Specialty Retail. Reporting to the Pet Specialty Retail Director, you will be responsible for driving business growth, executing strategic plans, and ensuring excellence in customer engagement.

You will collaborate with internal teams, corporate partners, and field sales teams to enhance Royal Canin’s market presence and product performance.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Drive sales growth and achieve budgeted targets for the retail portfolio.
  • Utilize category insights, demand planning, and data analytics to identify growth opportunities.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans, including promotional and marketing initiatives, to increase brand visibility and sales.
  • Present new product developments (NPD) and category merchandising initiatives to corporate partners.
  • Negotiate and manage trading terms as part of annual strategic planning.
  • Conduct performance reviews with key accounts, analyze trends, and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Oversee trade spend budgets and promotional programs to maximize financial performance.
  • Ensure optimal product supply by contributing to demand forecasting and supply chain coordination.
  • Support customer marketing initiatives, including promotional campaigns, product launches, and educational programs for retail and veterinary staff.

What are we looking for?

  • 5+ years Key Account Management including offline and online specialist retailers
  • Project management experience
  • Intermediate computer literacy with Microsoft office software. (PowerBI, Powerpoint and Advanced Excel skills)
