Working within an ISO 17025 laboratory environment in Kirkland Lake, the Laboratory Manager will:

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day production environment across all lab tests and all employees, in order to meet production goals
• Mentor and manage staff to ensure a positive team environment
• Direct, coordinate and train personnel in conducting test procedures and optimizing instrumentation
• Coordinate the development, evaluation, improvement and implementation of standard analytical methods (EPA, APHA etc.), instrumentation and processes
• Troubleshoot and optimize methods and equipment for increased efficiency and quality
• Attend internal and external lab audits as required
• Oversee and enforce a safe work environment
• Collaborate with other members of the Management Team as may be required

Qualifications and Experience:

• The ideal candidate will possess at least five years of management experience, post-graduate degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry or in a similar field.
• Familiar with the theory and operation of standard analytical instrumentation (e.g. GC/MS, ICP/MS, HPLC and spectrometric equipment)
• Aptitude to lead, mentor and direct staff to achieve company goals and objectives and to promote teamwork and excellence
• Ability to work in a fast-paced laboratory setting
• Knowledge of ISO 17025 and ability to adhere to a strict Quality Control Program
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize under pressure of completing deadlines
• Excellent computer skills
• Energetic and hard-working
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Coordinate weekend and off-hour production shifts as required to meet the needs of our clients
• Trouble-shoot and optimize methods and equipment for increased efficiency and quality

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Kirkland Lake, ON P2N 3J1: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
